It's been a pretty productive couple of days. I think I FINALLY finished the gridding on Friday, it was a bit more challenging than normal (had to get some input from some of the other members of the stitching boards) because of the way the pattern handled overlapping stitches. But I finished Friday, and thanks to the cooperation of rainy weather this weekend, plus my having a cold, which gave me a PERFECT excuse to stay home and stitch), I was able to start stitching. I started in the middle, so what you're seeing is the bottom of her sleeve. The brown is the very bottom of her stitching frame (at least I THINK that's what we're seeing! LOL).

Quick Picture of a Picture
A quick posting of a picture of "Angel of Cross-Stitch". I saw someone else working on it in one of my stitching groups, and thought it was really cool (of course, I think that was before I found out that it includes 391 colors). It's my understanding that it's available in a brochure, but I found it on eBay by finding the issue of "The Cross Stitcher" magazine that it was in (it's the June 1999 issue). My next posting will be my progress report!
Walking to Town - 01/27/2008
Well, here is my "Walking to Town" update. It looks closer to done than it really is...the right hand side of the stitched area is actually the center of the picture. I started in the middle and kind or worked my way to the left. Now I'm doing the foreground (kind of the snow and the fence, etc) and I'll continue that over to the right and then go up the right hand side). But it is coming along!!!

A quick finish...
While I waited for my fabric for the angel, I stitched this up real quick. It's hanging on my office door....and if you could see my desk, you would know that I am apparently overly qualified to be a member of Mensa...I must be a SUPER genius, since my desk is SUPER cluttered!!! It was fun, it's on perforated paper mounted on a piece of cardboard (along the lines of matboard). It was interesting - the way you attached the beads for the hanger is to stitch the left hand red dot, then continuing with the floss you string the beads on the floss, and then go over and stitch the right hand dot. It went together very quickly, and it was a pleasure to stitch. Even though it was a kit, it used DMC floss....so that was nice. I got the kit thru 123Stitch, although I don't remember the manufacturer.

Ornament Progress
Well, since I haven't gotten my fabric that I ordered for the Angel of Cross Stitch, I've been working on Christmas ornaments instead. For these ornaments, you actually stitch two of each ornament and then attach them back to back. So...for each set of four (and I'm planning on making two sets) you need to stitch 8 ornaments, if that makes any sense. I have finished the stitching on four of them. Still need to do the beading, but the beads were ordered along with the Angel of Cross Stitch fabric. So far I am very happy with the way they are turning out.

Next Start
Well, I actually finished my fractal on Wednesday. I then spent the rest of Wednesday organizing my floss. I use the "Floss-Away" type bags, because I like the fact that I can store the whole skein along with the bits and pieces you always end up with.
I had a TON of new floss to organize - I had bought lots of floss in preparation for doing the "Angel of Cross Stitch" pattern (it takes somewhere just short of 400 colors!) but the floss was just all in two bags and not organized. So, I bagged everything in its individual bags, and organized all those individual bags into four shoe boxes. THEN I realized that the piece of fabric that I had in the back of my mind to use for the angel wasn't big enough.
So, I ordered fabric, and then I thought "Well, okay, short term solution....let's start on ornaments". So I'm working on at least TWO sets of these ornaments. They seem like they won't take TOO long, although I can't do the beads yet (I ordered those along with my fabric). I can blame someone on my cross-stitch board for "enabling" me with these.....she had a picture and I just thought they were too beautiful to pass up!!
Thanks for checking out my blog!
Fractal FINISH!!!
Well...it's DONE!!! Now to figure out exactly what I want to do with it. I'm thinking of possibly a pillow (surrounding it with black fabric, or maybe denim), or else framing it. I'll have to think about it for a bit, and then decide. I'm happy with the way it turned out. I think I started it mid-September. My first progress picture I ever took was October 1st, so that's what I'm basing my start date on. Now it's on to the next project!!

Progress on "Walking to Town"
Here is my "work" project.....it's a Dimension kit called "Walking to Town". Obviously, the picture on the top is my progress so far, the picture on the bottom is a picture of the picture as it SHOULD look when it's finished.
Progress on this one is going slowly but surely. I keep it at work, and work on it over my lunch hour each day. That gives me about five hours per week of stitching time. I bring it home every couple of weeks just to take a picture of it to "show off" my progress. It helps me because I actually get to see that I really AM making progress, and it's not just wishful thinking on my part!

First post EVER....
Well, here goes my first attempt at blogging. I'm not going to promise that I'll post daily (MAYBE weekly) - I know myself too well, and I never kept a diary up on a daily basis when I was a kid, so I can't even imagine that I'll do this daily.....I'm sure I'll run hot and cold with it.
Here is my progress posting on my fractal bookmark. I finished page 5 last night!!! Now I'm down to just page 6, which is obviously a partial page.
Then I'll be starting on "Angel of Cross Stitch". That should be a big project....I think it uses 300 + colors of floss!!!
The other projects for the year are going to be two Chicago pictures I ordered from Mystic Stitch, and I want to do two sets of four each of perforated paper Christmas ornaments. Someone on my stitching group was looking for the pattern, and when she posted the pictures of the pattern she was looking for, they intrigued me, so I want to do a set for my parents and a set for my aunt (who is also my Godmother).
Well, thanks for checking in on me. Tomorrow I will try to post my progress on "Walking to Town", which is my lunch hour project. That ones going to take a LONG time.....one hour a day, five days a week does not make for HUGE project.
See you all soon!! Thanks for checking out my blog.
